Avery Wild is the Convention Chair and original founder of Ret-Con, a convention for all things a little bit strange in fandom and fiction. Before Ret-Con he was the dealer’s room head for Illogicon in Cary, North Carolina, where he developed a strong love for supporting independent and local creatives. Avery has a bachelor’s degree in English, answering the age old question “what do you do with a BA in English?” Well, you run literary conventions of course.

Outside of convention running, Avery is an avid enjoyer of fandom. Some of his earliest memories involve watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Outer Limits with his father. These are fandoms he has carried with him into adulthood. He also has enjoyed Hannibal, Our Flag Means Death, Fringe, The X-files, Star Trek: Voyager, and yes even Star Wars.

At home Avery lives with his husband and two cats, Chekov and Dr. Beverly Crusher. Like any proud cat dad, yes, he does have pictures of his cats and yes you can absolutely see them.
